UK Government Energy and Sustainability Round Up
This week I discovered the RSS feeds at www.info4local.gov.uk. Fantastic amounts of information telling me more than I could ever want to know about what’s happening in UK government policy. Perhaps this week is particularly busy, but a quick round up is below:
- Consultation: EU Thematic Strategy on the sustainable use of natural resources - The objective of the Thematic Strategy is to ensure that the consumption of resources (and their associated impacts) do not exceed the carrying capacity of the environment; and to break the linkages between economic growth and resource use.
- Crucial construction conference: Delivering business benefits - OGC has pulled together a high-profile line-up of speakers, who will provide valuable insight into the construction industry and the tools that are being put in place to enable the industry to work together to achieve the optimum balance of demand and capacity. Together, they will explore the business benefits of this new approach, enabling you to contribute fully in developing the systems and process that can maximise the value for money potential.
- 2006 Digest of UK Energy Statistics - lots more shiny graphs including a UK Energy in Brief summary. Loads of statistics on energy trends within the DTI site.
- The Energy Efficiency Commitment April 2008 to March 2011 - The Energy Efficiency Commitment imposes a statutory obligation upon electricity and gas suppliers to meet a target for the promotion of improvements in energy efficiency among household consumers in Great Britain through the promotion of measures such as cavity wall and loft insulation, energy efficiency light bulbs, boilers and appliances.
- Energy White Paper: Third Annual Report - In 2003 the Government published ‘Our Energy Future - creating a low carbon economy’ which defined a long-term strategic vision for energy policy combining our environmental, security of supply, competitiveness and social goals. On 25th July 2006 we published our 3rd annual progress report.
- How green are businesses in England and Wales? - The environment agency measure and report on the environmental performance of businesses in many ways.
Quite a bit of reading to be getting on with.
