First blogs, now wikis…

David Miliband was one of the first MP’s to have his own blog and now he and DEFRA have a Wiki. If you don’t know what a wiki is, have a look at www.wikipedia.org (the daddy of all wiki’s). Basically, it’s a site which you, the user, can edit. Changes are tracked and if some looney changes it all to nursery rhymes or somesuch nonsense, there are ways of retrieving the good stuff. The DEFRA wiki is trying to create an environmental contract, setting out the responsibilities of each of us with regards to the environment. A wiki is a great way of collaboratively agreeing this contract. I’m interested that David seems very clued in to current technology, and I hope the wiki is a success.
And if your interest in wiki’s is piqued, have a look at this one which some students in Scotland forwarded to me. The topic is ‘low carbon buildings‘ and I’m sure Greenspace would be happy for any additions to their project.
edit: Just came across this interesting discussion confirming that David writes his own blog, which I think comes across anyway, but good to know there isn’t a band of ghost writers pretending to be him. Some interesting points about edemocracy too, which the wiki will only be increasing.

I’ve got an Amazon gift certificate burning holes in my pocket,
and I want to get the most bang for my buck.
Enter the Secret Amazon Web Pages:
This is where you’re going to find the “latest sales, rebates, and limited-time offers” from
Amazon, and you can score some pretty deep discounts if you’re a savvy shopper.
Next, there’s the special Sale link. This is open every Friday, and ONLY on Fridays.
You can find the same good discounts here as you would in hidden Deals, although some
Fridays you can really get lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit - I’ve seen discounts
there as low as 75% off sticker price.
