I shouldn’t laugh…

…but this amused and intrigued me in equal measure.  I was doing some research on the history of the building regs for an assignment which I am trying to finish and came across a page on Wikipedia for Energy efficiency in British Housing. A little known fact about Wikipedia is that if you click on the tag ‘history’ at the top of the page and then look down the side there is an RSS feed for the page.  I clicked onto the one for energy efficiency (I also keep an eye on EcoHomes and Zero energy buildings) so I could subscribe (using Google Reader).  The past history threw up this:

What intrigued me so much was that this page probably has less than 10 readers.  Why would this be in the slightest bit rebellious?  The post was deleted within 6 hours of being posted, so any kudos from being a master hacker of Wikipedia can’t have been the motive.  Mind you, it made me laugh, and then I’ve posted about it, so there you go…

Yep! Welcome to Wikipedia. This kind of stuff happens all the time, more frequently in more popular articles. Luckily, there are now semi-automated vandalism detection processes in place, and it gets reverted pretty quickly.
