What caught my eye today, January 21st:

• Advanced Energy Design Guides Free Download – ASHRAE design guides for small offices, retail and schools. Claims to be 30% more efficient than ASHRAE typical standards.
• Soneva Fushi – carbon free by 2010 – Interesting project in the Maldives, by XCO2. The resort wants to go carbon neutral. I like the sound of the deep sea water cooling, (DSWC), not so useful in Leeds though…
• Geopressure wins support: Energy Minister backs low-carbon energy source – A new one on me – geopressure. Using geological pressure to create power.
• Collaborative project information management in a semantic web environment – Academic paper looking at “the need for effective mechanisms for design and construction information management, in addition to an ontology that facilitates the sharing of design and construction information and the underlying semantics.”
• Culture change through the use of appropriate pricing systems – Interesting looking paper from Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management looking at pricing systems within the industry. Pertinent given the recent housebuilder slashes in payments to contractors…
