  • English fields could be tapped for sustainable biomass – 06 Apr 2011 – News from BusinessGreen – "The researchers said that converting marginal land to biomass plantations would not only be sufficient to generate approximately four per cent of current UK electricity demand, but would meet approximately one per cent of total energy demand, including heat."
  • Better Buildings Partnership – "To support Managing Agents develop their roll in delivering sustainably managed buildings, the BBP has produced its ‘Managing Agents Sustainability Toolkit’ which sets out a full range of sustainability services which an owner should consider requiring its Managing Agent to provide. Topics include energy, water, waste, transport and sharing initiatives. It also provides detailed guidance notes for Managing Agents on each of these topics, outlining how best to meet such requirements."

  • Scotland seeks to improve recycling record with pioneering ‘carbon metric’ | Environment | guardian.co.uk – "Councils will now be expected to factor in the carbon emissions involved in the production of each type of waste and the climate benefits from recycling that material, measured against sending them to landfill. Iain Gulland, the director of Zero Waste Scotland, said this new system was "the next leap" in recycling and that using tonnage was not as environmentally sensitive and sustainable as it should be."
