Construction Strategy document released, but no news on sustainability yet

Anyone else getting impatient waiting for documents to be published? High on my wishlist are the NPPF and the government reponse to the IGT report.

The good news is that the new Construction Strategy (pdf, 43 pages) confirms our wait is almost over:

Specific actions will be developed in relation to Government‟s construction strategy for sustainability and carbon following the publication of Government‟s response to The IGT Report: Low Carbon Construction, to be published in June 2011.

Which could be any day now then. The action plan states the objective as:

To deliver future carbon reductions in the Government estate through the procurement of new construction for example by developing approaches to appraising construction projects on a whole life carbon basis including embodied carbon, and working with Departments and industry to deliver existing and emerging Strategy for Sustainable Construction targets.

With the measures being:

Reduced carbon emissions, water consumption and waste to landfill in accordance with agreed targets.

The question remains, wll BREEAM still explicitly be a requirement? Hopefully we will find out in a matter of weeks.
