The blog is back!

After basically deleting the blog and starting from scratch (importing all the old posts into WordPress) I think the issues are now resolved. I may still be changing hosts so a little oddness may occur over the next week or so, but for now, enjoy the new look.

Happy Blogday to me…

Is is really two years? Almost 360 posts, over 70 regular subscribers, almost 8000 hits in the past year*, including over 250 to BREEAM is a means to an end post. *Over 20% of visitors use Firefox as their browser, most of the rest use IE.  Only 0.5% use Mac although one visitor found me using […]

Merry Xmas

A bit early to be calling it a day for Xmas, but I am currently up to my eyeballs in learning Spanish – I have homework to do and everything! Normal service will resume in the New Year; expect blogging to begin again on Monday 7th January.  I am endeavouring to clear out all my […]

New look, nearly New Year

As you can see, if you are not one of my 50 odd subscribers by RSS (at last folks seem to be catching onto the joy of RSS), I’ve changed the look of the blog (again). If you are one of my 50 odd subscribers, thank you and please stop by and have a poke […]

Tinkering again…

Can’t quite find a WordPress theme I’m happy with – think of this as an interim measure.  At least most of the widgets seem to be working and I’ve got rid of the white space at the top of the page. My biggest problem was trying to remember how to get into net2ftp  – thank […]

I am not a webmaster

Gah.  Ever had that feeling that you have just enough knowledge to get yourself in trouble?  As you may have gathered from the odd formatting, my html skillz have some way to go.  I can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong (probably some wonky formatting in a post just about to slip off the page, […]

Things will probably continue to be quiet here for a bit while I do a bit of catching up and reorganisation.  Things I intend to do to the site: Upgrade to WP2.3 Reorganise the blogroll.  I’ve been recategorising my blog feeds into 3 broad types across each of my topics.  The topics are generally sustainable […]

Battle of the RSS feed readers

by mel starrs on September 20, 2007

in Blogging and social networks

I’m currently trying to decide between Google Reader and Bloglines for my RSS reader of choice.  Both keep adding new features and every time I think I’ve decided on one, the other adds the feature I like about the other.  Google Reader is winning at the minute, but the organisation of feeds needs a serious […]

I’ve updated my links to the side, adding a few more categories and blogs I’ve found over the past few months.  Highlights include: Rob at no2self found via Hana , I think. He’s an architect (in Birmingham) and his EcoBuild post had me giggling inappropriately at my keyboard. A young blog (born December 2006) here […]

Blaming the tools, not the operator…

by mel starrs on April 9, 2007

My RSS issues seemed to have cleared up. After upgrading to WP 2.1.3 things seem to be back to normal, although I ended up fiddling with my feedburner feeds so they point at a slightly different place. So it doesn’t seem to have been something I did (probably…) – but something odd in WP 2.1.2.. […]
